Phones 4u has started stocking consoles such as the PS3, X-Box and Nintendo Wii in stores, which will be given away as part of cashback-style deals to tempt contract customers. Previously, customers had to wait upwards of 30 days to receive the ‘gifts’.
The consoles arrived in most Phones 4u stores earlier this week. The retailer is keen to maintain its aggression to win new contract customers, but under investigation from Ofcom regarding mis-selling. The games consoles have been interpreted by some as a ‘safer’ incentive for the retailer’s reputation than cashback.
Phones 4u also has dropped its basic commission rate by up to 10%, and will instead give staff the chance to regain the lost revenue from its customer feedback scores in a bid to improve its service
