Phones 4u has introduced 'Skills 4 Service', an NVQ qualification all new and existing employees can take, this month. The company aims to get all its existing training programmes NVQ certified.
Phones 4u claims the NVQ and apprenticeship programmes will be on a larger scale than any other scheme in the telecoms sector. 3500 retail staff will benefit from the training, which is said to be a bigger venture than Vodafone's current NVQ system.
Retail staff will gain an NVQ 2 in Sales and Service. In 2009, Phones 4u will allow staff to study further to achieve the higher-level NVQ 3 in Sales and Service, equivalent to 2 A Levels. Key skills taught on the course will be developing business awareness, customer service, literacy and numeracy skills.
