Handset Recycling

The amount of electrical and electronic goods we throw away is increasing by 5% each year, making it the fastest growing waste stream in the UK.

As part of the 4u Groups continuous stance on environmental issues, we have introduced a service to safely recycle your old mobile phones and other electrical and electronic goods in an environmentally friendly process for free.

As mobile phones, electrical and electronic goods are made of plastic, precious metals and some toxic materials, it is essentially important that they are recycled in an efficient effective manner, as if they end up in landfill sites, it can cause serious damage to the surrounding environment.

Just to give you an idea of how important the recycling process is, one mobile battery could be powerful enough to pollute 600,000 litres of water. Which considering 18 million mobiles are bought each year, and yet fewer than 5% of unwanted handsets will be recycled, the potential effect of mobile phones not being disposed of correctly could be disastrous.
